A French official says his country is studying the possibility of taking a larger role in the U-S-led campaign against terrorism in Afghanistan.
The official said France is still evaluating technical considerations but said the time is fast approaching for a political decision to be made regarding an expanded role.
His comments came after a meeting in Ghent, Belgium, among the leaders of Britain, Germany, and France. The meeting was held ahead of today's (Friday's) European Union summit in the Belgian city.
