U-S military officials in Afghanistan say U-S special forces came under attack by small arms fire late Thursday in the central part of the country.
A military spokesman (Colonel Roger King) told reporters today (Friday) at Bagram Air Base there were no casualties from the attack near Tarin Kot, the capital of Uruzgan province.
The spokesman said, despite the incident, he sees no indication attacks against American forces have increased this month after a U-S airstrike killed dozens of Afghan civilians in the same province.
The incident is under investigation, but U-S military officials say the airstrike was prompted by anti-aircraft fire aimed at American planes.
