Pakistan To Taleban: Don't Allow Pakistanis In Your Army - 2001-10-25

Pakistan has warned the Afghanistan's Taleban regime against allowing Pakistanis to fight in its army or training them there to fight elsewhere.

The warning came Wednesday from a Pakistani Foreign Ministry spokesman (Riaz Mohammed Khan).

The spokesman said he has no information about Pakistanis from the militant group Harkat-al-Mujahideen who were killed Tuesday during a U-S airstrike in Kabul.

At least 22 members of the group died when a U-S bomb fell on the house they were in. It is not clear what the Pakistanis were doing in the Afghan capital.

But Harkat-al-Mujahideen is on a list of groups the United States recently linked to terrorism. The group is one of more than 10 which has been fighting to end Indian rule in the disputed Kashmir region between India and Pakistan.
