Bush Sends Eid al-Fitr Greetings - 2001-12-16

President Bush has sent his greetings and best wishes to Muslims celebrating the three-day feast of Eid al-Fitr.

The festive occasion (that began Sunday) marks the end of fasting during the holy month of Ramadan.

In his message, President Bush calls on people of different faiths to work together in a spirit of friendship and cooperation. He says that through combined efforts, the world can end terrorism and eliminate the damaging effects of hatred and intolerance.

He also says Americans are working with many nations to provide food, medicine and clothing to help the people of Afghanistan.

President Bush has repeatedly stressed the war on terror is not a war against Islam.
